Rochester attorney Bernadette Catalana has become of counsel to the Philadelphia-based law firm of Lavin, O’Neil, Ricci, Cedrone & DiSipio, which has opened a local office.
Catalana is an experienced litigator who focuses her practice on all aspects of civil litigation, including appeals. She has a substantial background in products liability defense work with an emphasis on toxic exposures at the trial, appellate and resolution levels, and regularly serves as liaison counsel for defendants in mass tort litigation in New York.
“We are delighted that Bernadette has joined our firm,” said Basil DiSipio, managing shareholder of the Lavin firm. “We have worked with her on a number of cases and were impressed with her dedication and attention to detail. And, we are happy to have an office in Rochester.”
Catalana previously was a member of Osborne, Reed & Burke LLP and Morris and Morris, both in Rochester. She received a bachelor’s in business administration from Binghamton University and a law degree, cum laude, from University at Buffalo Law School where she was a member of the Buffalo Law Review, author of “The Battle for Baby Jessica: a Conflict of Best Interests” (43 Buff. L. Rev. 583 1995) and recipient of the Robert Connolly Oral Advocacy Award 1995.
Catalana also uses her experience in strategic litigation to provide resolution advocacy services. She is a member of the New York State and Monroe County bar associations and is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of New York, U.S. Court of Appeals, Federal Circuit and U.S. Tax Court.
In 2004, Catalana was recognized as one of The Daily Record’s “Up and Coming Attorneys.”
