Genesee Land Trust, the Rochester area’s local land and waterway preservation organization, has achieved land trust accreditation from the Land Trust Accreditation Commission, an independent program of the Land Trust Alliance.
“This accredited status demonstrates our commitment to permanent land conservation which greatly benefits the community,” said Executive Director Gay Mills.
The trust is one of 201 nationally accredited out of more than 1,700 land trusts in the country, according to a release. Genesee Land Trust was awarded its accreditation in February. Accredited land trusts are authorized to display a seal indicating they meet national standards for excellence, uphold the public trust and ensure that conservation efforts are permanent. The seal is a mark of distinction in land conservation.
