Flower City Habitat for Humanity is going high tech to raise funds.

The organization hopes to raise $79,000 through social networking to fund a LEED-qualified home built entirely by women in Rochester’s JOSANA neighborhood.

Tipping Point Media developed an application through which donors can build and decorate a virtual house online. Money raised through the application will support the 2010 Women Build project, which kicks off May 8.

Those who make a contribution will be able to add windows, a porch, a chimney, pick a paint color and more, based on the level of their donation.

Icons that will be used in the virtual house have been sponsored by Pace Window & Door; Isaac Heating and Air Conditioning; Crego Realty Group; Broccolo Tree & Lawn Care; Boylan, Brown, Code, Vigdor & Wilson LLP and Matthews & Fields Lumber.
