The law firm of Boylan, Brown, Code, Vigdor & Wilson LLP on Wednesday announced that Schatz Law Offices LLC of West Hartford, Conn., will merge with the Rochester-based firm effective May 1.

Schatz Law Offices’ practice is focused on corporate and finance law, with particular expertise in structuring acquisitions and divestitures involving employee stock ownership plans  and leveraged financing transactions for companies, their owners, employees, fiduciaries, lenders and investors. Schatz also provides ongoing corporate and financial advisory and legal services to ESOP-owned companies.

The firm’s two principals — Robert F. Schatz and Richard A. Glassman — will become partners at Boylan Brown and will continue to work from a Connecticut office. Schatz’s practice has a particular emphasis on acquisitions and divestitures involving ESOPs. Glassman has more than 30 years’ experience in law, banking and general management in publicly-traded and closely-held companies.

“The addition … greatly strengthens our ESOP team and also enhances Boylan Brown’s corporate, banking and succession planning practices,” Boylan Brown partner and CEO Robert Brown said in a release. “We are very excited for the opportunity to further develop these practice areas.”
