The Gay alliance of the Genesee Valley has entered the second phase of its documentation project recording the history of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered and allied community of the greater Rochester area.

Phase II, which will span six months, will focus on surveying the content of collections identified in the first phase. Descriptions of the records will be available online.

The LGBTA community of Rochester NY Documentation Project is funded in part by a grant from the Documentary Heritage Program of the New York State Archives, a program of the State Education Department.

The alliance wants to make sure the work of LGBTA people and groups are recognized as part of the state’s rich cultural, political, social and economic history.

Anyone with historical records that may be pertinent to the history is asked to contact Alice Carver-Kubik at (585) 244-8640, ext. 32, or e-mail aliceck@gayalliance.org
