William Maher, Esq., partner in the law firm of Halprin Temple Goodman & Maher, will succeed Dorothy Attwood, as chief of the Wireline Competition Bureau (WCB) a division of the Federal Communication Commission (FCC).
The WCB was previously known as the Common Carrier Bureau, and has never been headed by an attorney in the past.
Maher is a lawyer who has a background in technology. He has both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical engineering. He also worked at Bell Labs.
He has also worked at both the FCC and the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA). Most recently, he represented the Multi Association Group (MAG) in access charge reform proceedings before the FCC. He has also represented the U.S. Telecommunications Association.
