BUFFALO — A Buffalo man has pleaded not guilty to killing and dismembering his former fiancee, whose remains were recovered from a channel a week after she disappeared.
An Erie County judge ordered that 32-year-old Tomell Hasidi remain jailed without bail Wednesday following his plea on a count of second-degree murder.
Hasidi was arrested on Dec. 30, a day after police divers recovered the dismembered remains of 32-year-old Lekiesta Brown in the Black Rock Channel near the Peace Bridge linking Buffalo and Canada. The two had lived together until a few days before Brown went missing.
Hasidi’s lawyer, Anthony Lana, says Hasidi is distraught but declined to comment further following Wednesday’s arraignment.
