NYSBA shares attorneys’ employment outlook

To help attorneys navigate the current employment landscape and identify where the best legal career opportunities might be found in a tough economy, the New York State Bar Association’s Committee on Lawyers in Transition is offering a free Web cast, “Attorney Employment Outlook 2010 and Beyond.”

The program will take place from 12 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the New York office of Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp LLP and will be available online to attorneys who pre-register at www.nysba.org/LawyersinTransition.

“Whether an attorney has lost a job in the recession, is re-entering the work force after taking family leave, or simply wants to learn more about a new practice area, this lecture will give practical advice on the areas of the law that offer the best opportunities for employment,” said NYSBA President Michael E. Getnick said in a statement.

Featured topics will include document review and e-discovery jobs; law firm associate and in-house counsel jobs; partnerships and general counsel jobs; premium contract attorney jobs and re-entry into the legal profession.

Led by Lauren J. Wachtler of New York, chairwoman of the committee, the Webcast is part of an overall program to assist attorneys now reentering the job market or maintaining their businesses in the down economy.

The session will be archived and available on the committee’s Web site at www.nysba.org/LawyersinTransition for attorneys who are unable to participate in the live Webinar.
