Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks on Tuesday announced that the County of Monroe Industrial Development Agency approved assistance for two local economic development projects, including a Microtel Inn & Suites hotel in Chili.
The Indus Chili Avenue Associates LLC at 1170 Pittsford Victor Road, Pittsford, will build a 20,000-sq. ft., 50-unit Microtel Inn & Suites at 3260 Chili Ave. in Rochester. The $2.9 million project is projected to create 15 new full-time jobs within three years, according to a release from Brooks’s office, and will receive JobsPlus property tax abatement.
COMIDA also approved EquiPlus assistance for Brothers International Food Corp. at 1175 Lexington Ave., Rochester. The Batavia-based company supplies frozen fruit and fruit juice concentrate to several food companies and produces a line of summer products.
The company has outgrown its space in Batavia and will lease a 24,000-sq.ft. facility on Lexington Avenue that has been vacant for the past eight years, the release states. The company currently employs 19 and expects to create 15 new full-time positions.
EquiPlus combines investment incentives from the GreatRate and GreatRebate programs with sales tax exemptions offered through COMIDA. Companies that receive the benefits for the purchase of equipment can receive additional sales tax exemptions on the purchase of the equipment through COMIDA.
