Harris Corp awarded $6 million order

Harris Corporation of Rochester, an international communications and information technology company, has received a $6 million order to supply an African nation with multiband networking radios, universal remote controls and other tactical communications equipment.

The Falcon model RF-7800M is a wideband tactical radio that provides soldiers with unprecedented situational awareness of the battlefield through wireless, high-bandwidth networked communications. The radio applications include  streaming video, simultaneous voice and data feeds, collaborative chat and connectivity to secure networks, delivering critical real-time information to the battlefield in a small, lightweight man-portable radio.

In addition, Harris is also providing the African nation with a high-frequency radio that provides secure beyond-line-of-sight radio communications in the most demanding battlefield environments. It offers secure interoperability with another Harris radio widely deployed with U.S. and NATO forces operating in Afghanistan.

Harris, headquartered in Melbourne, Fla., serves government and commercial markets in more than 150 countries.
