ALBANY (AP) — Republican Rick Lazio reported Friday that he has raised more than $3 million in his campaign for governor against Democrat Andrew Cuomo and possible GOP primary challenger Carl Paladino.
The former congressman’s campaign said he received contributions from more than 3,514 donors over the past six months. Further details were not immediately available. The campaign reported $637,356 on hand in mid-January.
Cuomo reported raising $9.27 million in the past six months from 3,951 donors, pushing his current available total to $23.6 million.
Paladino, a Buffalo developer, reported spending $1.7 million campaigning in the past six months, mostly his own money. That leaves $52,823 on hand.
“The campaign has had a new energy,” Lazio spokesman Barney Keller said.
The campaign is getting many new subscribers for its website, and hits have sometimes overloaded the link about Lazio challenging plans to build a mosque near the former World Trade Center in Manhattan, Keller said.
