Negotiations should resume in Mott’s strike

Stuart Appelbaum, president of the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union, has  accepted U.S. Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis’s call that the union and Dr Pepper Snapple Group resume negotiations immediately to end a strike at the Mott’s plant in Williamson, Wayne County.

Speaking at the Rochester Labor Day Parade Appelbaum called on Dr Pepper Snapple executives, Mott’s parent company, headquartered in Plano, Texas, to accept Solis’s challenge and return to the bargaining table. The strike began in May.

Solis made her appeal as part of Labor Day remarks issued to the local media. She says she is rooting for the bargaining process and urges both sides to the return to the bargaining table.
