Criminal justice service org marks 40th anniversary

Pre-Trial Services Corp. this week celebrated its 40th anniversary of providing service to the Monroe County criminal justice system.

Timothy Murray, executive director of the Pretrial Justice Institute in Washington, D.C. spoke at a special luncheon Tuesday at the Hyatt Regency Downtown, which was followed by a short history of the organization.

The Pre-Trial Services Corp. of the Monroe County Bar Association, created as a release on recognizance program, was incorporated as a nonprofit in July 1970. The program provides intervention services and alternatives to detention for people accused of crimes.
