Community Action group gets ARRA funds

According to data released Monday by the New York State Community Action Association, the group received nearly $86.8 million over the last year in funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

New York’s low-income home weatherization network received nearly $400 million in stimulus funds. Officials from Rochester’s Action for a Better Community presented an overview of the impact of stimulus funding on Monday at the organization’s Main Street headquarters, reporting that the more than $10 million received locally has helped with job placements, career advancement opportunities, new community partnerships, and weatherization initiatives for low-income individuals and their families.

Action for a Better Community is a federally and state designated Community Action Agency that serves Monroe County and Ontario counties.
