Nixon Peabody expands presence in China

Nixon Peabody LLP is expanding its presence in Asia with a new office and strategic association with the Hong Kong law firm of  Cheng Wong Lam & Partners.

This new affiliation will provide clients with expanded legal services in Asia. An independent law firm founded in 2002, Cheng Wong Lam & Partners provides a full range of legal solutions in Hong Kong and advises clients on matters including inbound and outbound investments, transactions and legal disputes involving Mainland China.

“By 2020, China will be the largest single market for legal services worldwide,” said Richard F. Langan Jr., CEO and managing partner of Nixon Peabody LLP, which has offices in Rochester.

“Lawyers from across our firm are already working closely with Cheng Wong Lam & Partners on current client matters. With our new Hong Kong office, we are expanding our capabilities to handle the most sophisticated inbound and outbound transactions across Asia.”

Cheng Wong Lam & Partners was named by Asia Legal Business as a finalist for boutique law firm of the year in 2010. The firm was founded by attorneys who were previously at leading multinational law firms and a pioneer of foreign investment and inbound and outbound Chinese transactions.

Nixon Peabody entered the China market in 2008 when it opened an office in Shanghai The firm’s China practice is chaired by David Cheng, a Hong Kong native who will split time between the two offices.
