DEPEW — Printing company Quad/Graphics is reducing the work force at its western New York plant by about 20 percent after the first of the year.
A spokeswoman for the Wisconsin-based company says Friday that about 95 of the 500 positions at its suburban Buffalo facility will be eliminated beginning Jan. 3.
Spokeswoman Claire Ho says some of the work being done at the Depew plant is being moved to other parts of the country to improve efficiency. That work involves printing things like catalogues and newspaper advertising inserts.
The plant mostly prints books.
The Buffalo-area facility was part of World Color Press when Quad/Graphics acquired it in July.
Quad/Graphics is based outside Milwaukee and has more than 40 facilities in the United States.
