DANSVILLE — Authorities say a 15-year-old boy faces charges after he pulled out a hunting knife in a classroom at a western New York high school.
Livingston County Sheriff John York said the teen pulled out the knife Thursday afternoon at Dansville High School, 40 miles south of Rochester. York says the school’s resource officer called police and the school went into lockdown. Authorities say the boy allowed the 21 other students in the room to leave after a few minutes, but the teacher and an assistant principal maintained contact until police arrived. Officials say the teen surrendered the knife to a sheriff’s investigator without incident. Authorities say the boy will likely be charged as a juvenile delinquent because of his age.
