Dennis Gilbert, 23, of Rochester, has been sentenced by U.S. District Judge David G. Larimer to 70 months in prison.
He was convicted of possession with intent to distribute and distribution of heroin.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Jennifer Noto, who handled the case, said Gilbert’s conviction stemmed from his participation in a drug organization responsible for the widespread distribution of cocaine and heroin in the Avenue C and Radio Street areas of Rochester between approximately January 2005 and October 2009.
The defendant was responsible for the direct distribution of heroin and cocaine and agreed that the drug conspiracy he participated in was involved in the street-level distribution of more than one kilogram of heroin and more than five kilograms of cocaine.
Gilbert was one of 13 individuals facing federal charges for participating in this drug organization. All of the defendants have resolved his or her charges with a guilty plea; Gilbert is the fourth to be sentenced in this case.
