In anticipation of Super Bowl parties with increased travel and alcohol consumption, the New York State Police in Western New York plan to provide increased patrols this weekend.
The measure is to increase visibility and enforcement efforts to ensure a safe weekend. Troopers will have a variety of enforcement efforts including DWI sobriety checkpoints, DWI roving patrols and aggressive driver enforcement efforts to keep the roadways as safe as possible for travelers this weekend.
The State Police encourage all those who will be traveling this weekend to drive safely and drink responsibly.
Snow and frigid temperatures are forecast for this week across Western New York. As a result, there will be a number of roadways that will have snow and/or ice that will remain on the surface: Decrease speed appropriately, watch for changing weather and road conditions, do not be distracted while driving due to in-car distractions, and make sure your vehicle is winterized.
