Shooting suspect’s lawyer cites 2-gunmen claim

BUFFALO — A lawyer for the lone suspect in a deadly mass shooting outside a Buffalo restaurant last summer says a prosecution witness claims at least two gunmen were involved.

Riccardo McCray is scheduled to be tried on first- and second-degree murder charges in Erie County Court next month.

He was in court Thursday for pre-trial housekeeping matters.

Afterward, defense attorney Joseph Terranova said he plans to vigorously cross-examine the prosecution witness. Erie County District Attorney Frank Sedita won’t comment.

The 23-year-old McCray is accused of opening fire outside the City Grill on Aug. 14, killing four people and wounding four others. He denies it.

McCray faces the possibility of life in prison without parole if convicted of the most serious charge.
