BUFFALO — A verdict is expected in the animal cruelty case of a suburban Buffalo man police say was marinating his cat in the trunk of his car.
A Buffalo City Court judge reserved decision Wednesday afternoon on the misdemeanor case against 52-year-old Gary Korkuc of Cheektowaga. The judge is expected to render a verdict Thursday afternoon.
Korkuc was arrested last August after he was pulled over for a traffic infraction and police officers heard a cat meowing in the trunk. The officers say they found the cat marinating in a mixture of oil, peppers and salt.
Authorities say Korkuc told the officers he doused his cat in marinade to punish it.
The 4-year-old cat was handed over to the local SPCA and later adopted by a family.
