BUFFALO — Republican Assemblywoman Jane Corwin is in the race for the New York congressional seat vacated by Christopher Lee in a scandal over a shirtless photo he’d reportedly sent to a woman he met on Craigslist.
Corwin has several introductory campaign stops planned in western New York’s 26th District Wednesday.
Republican leaders voted unanimously to support Corwin for Congress earlier this week.
No Democrats have announced yet. But Corwin may have competition from wealthy businessman Jack Davis, who’s run for the seat three times before. The Buffalo News says Davis may be considering a third-party run.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo hasn’t announced a date for a special election.
Corwin was elected to the Assembly in 2009 after working in the private sector for The Talking Phonebook, her family’s business.
