Community groups to meet with candidates

The Rochester Regional Community Design Center is coordinating a “Conversation with Mayoral Candidates” from 7 to 9 p.m. March 1 at Gleason Works Auditorium, 1000 University Ave.

All Rochester mayoral candidates have been invited to participate in the forum, which is being presented in partnership with the Rochester Chapter of the American Institute of Architects, the Landmark Society of Western New York, the NY Upstate Chapter of the American Planning Association, NY Upstate Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects and Reconnecting Rochester.

Rachel Barnhart, 13WHAM TV anchor/reporter will emcee. The public will be given a chance to submit questions for the candidates.

“The purpose of this event is to bring issues related to land use, neighborhood and urban planning, and development and revitalization that are critical to our city’s future, to the forefront in this campaign,” said Joni Monroe, executive director for the Rochester Regional Community Design Center.

The forum’s two-hour panel format will give the candidates an opportunity to respond to pre-issued questions as well as those from the audience.
