Monroe County Democrats are proposing to roll back pay increases recently given to more than 400 management and professional county employees.
They said the proposal could save the county about $400,000 this year alone.
The caucus of 12 county Democratic lawmakers is asking the Legislature to amend the compensation program to provide all M&P wages be assessed under the 2010 adopted salary schedule and that the 2011 schedule be amended to reflect the change.
“From 2009 to 2010, this administration increased the number of county employees earning more than $100,000 by 15 percent,” Legislator Saul Maneiro said. “In today’s economy, when families struggle to pay their bills, this is unacceptable. To address this gross inequity, we’ve proposed rolling back pay raises contained in the county executive’s 2011 budget.”
