HSE announces scholarship winner

The law firm of Harter Secrest & Emery LLP announced that Rayza R. Santiago of Pittsburgh has been awarded a $7,500 scholarship to continue her law studies at the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Law.

She is in her first year of law school, after which she will participate in HSE’s summer program

HSE’s Diversity Scholarship Program, initiated in 2005, awards scholarships to first-year law students who fulfill the award’s academic and professional criteria.

Law students are selected on the basis of their academic record, work experience and additional personal and professional elements that evidence great promise for a successful career in the legal profession.

“It was very important to the firm that we continue our diversity scholarship program, even in a challenging economy,” Managing Partner Maureen Alston said. “We hope to attract more students to legal careers in Upstate New York. We are convinced that our Diversity Scholarship Program enables us to provide better service to our clients and create a richer work environment.”

Santiago worked for HSE in an administrative capacity in the year after her undergraduate studies.
