One of the bands featured in the 10th annual Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival in June is scheduled to play at the Foundation of the Monroe County Bar’s inaugural Jazz For Justice fundraiser.
The Katie Ernst Quartet and two other jazz groups — Trio Eastman and Bishop/McLeod Organ Trio — from the Eastman School of Music, which is collaborating with the foundation, will entertain with hour-long sets at the event, which runs 6 to 10 p.m. April 1 at the Harro East Ballroom.
Tickets are $50 per person. Food stations will include fare from Harro East, Bocaccini’s Italina Bistro & Bar; Henry B’s; Shea’s Food, Wine & Tap; Katherine’s Gourmet Creations, Simply Crêpes and Sticky Lips Pit BBQ. Hors d’oeuvres will be passed throughout the evening.
Two pairs of club passes for the Rochester International Jazz Festival will be made available along with silent auction items and a live auction item: Dinner for eight prepared and served by MCBA and Foundation leadership.
Proceeds benefit the foundation, which funds numerous initiatives including Rochester Teen Court, the Rochester Legal Diversity Clerkship Program, the Sydney R. Rubin Mock Trial Competition, Deaf Equal Access Fund, and many other law related programs.
The Foundation has long supported civil legal services to the poor including the Empire Justice Center, Volunteer Legal Services Project, Legal Aid Society of Rochester and Monroe County Legal Assistance Center.
