PAETEC Holding Corp is adding 50 new technical positions in the Rochester area this year.
The customer-facing positions will perform advanced diagnostics, technical support and repair for businesses, government institutions and universities nationwide across PAETEC’s communications product portfolio.
To make room for the added employees, the Perinton-based communications company will relocate some 230 employees in the IT, telecom software and sales departments to a new expansion building at 770 Canning Parkway in Victor.
After the move, PAETEC will be using five buildings in the Rochester area: Two in Perinton, including corporate headquarters; and one each in East Rochester, Henrietta and Victor.
Of the 50 added positions, nine are already placed and 10 start March 29. For the remaining 31 positions, PAETEC’s staffing department is targeting eight area colleges with technical degree programs, along with a planned open house from 6 to 8 p.m. May 5 at corporate headquarters.
PAETEC has previously announced its plans to build a new 224,000 square foot headquarters on the site of the former Midtown Plaza in downtown Rochester. Demolition to prepare the site is under way with an expected move-in date of June 2013.
