NYSBA sponsoring local CLEs

The New York State Bar Association is sponsoring two Continuing Legal Education workshops this month in Rochester.

The first, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, is “Ethics & Civility 2011,” an introductory course presented by the association’s Commercial and Federal Litigation Section and the Committee on Continuing Legal Education. Ethical issues faced by attorneys will be explored through a discussion of real-world hypothetical scenarios. Panelists include judges, ethics experts and experienced practitioners. The program will be at the Holiday Inn Rochester, 911 Brooks Ave. It includes 4 MCLE credits in ethics and costs $140 for members; $220, non-members.

The second program, “Matrimonial and Family Law: What the Lawyer Needs to Know about Disclosure and Trial Preparation,” will hone in on the specific provisions of the CPLR with which matrimonial lawyers must be familiar in order to develop, protect and advance their cases. The program will be offered 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 29 at Radisson Hotel Rochester Riverside, 120 E. Main St., and includes 4.5 credits for attorneys with more than two years of experience. Cost through April 19 is $95 for members; $175, non members; and $35, students.
