Work program may be revamped

Monroe County Legislature President Jeffery R. Adair has submitted legislation which would reform the legislature’s annual work program.

The proposal would change the due date from April of each year to the first regular meeting of each newly seated legislature.

“The current way the work program is completed is, quite frankly, a mess,” Adair said. “Once I reached this conclusion, I knew that we should create a document which can and will be consulted when considering the legislation and policies which come before this body.”

He said the program currently consists of a non-specific document laying out policy guidelines for the Legislature and is required to be submitted in April.

Adair’s referral will be discussed at the April 25 meeting of the Agenda/Charter Committee, along with a 2011 annual work program which complies with the current law.
