Honeoye Falls man pleads guilty in child porn case

Robert Avery, 54, of Honeoye Falls, has pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Charles J. Siragusa to knowingly possessing child pornography.

Avery faces up to 10 years in prison, a $250,000 fine or both.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Tiffany H. Lee said Avery admitted to possessing about 40 images, some depicting prepubescent children. He also told law enforcement that he had traded pictures depicting the sexual abuse and exploitation of children over the Internet.

Sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 9.

The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood (www.projectsafechildhood.gov)

The investigation was by the FBI’s Cyber Crime Task Force which includes the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department, directed by Sheriff Patrick O’Flynn.
