A Victor winemaker has donated more than 60 acres of land near one of the Finger Lakes to a land trust that plans to make the property accessible to the public.
Constellation Brands, donated about 66 acres at the south end of Canandaigua Lake to the Ithaca-based Finger Lakes Land Trust.
The property in the Yates County town of Italy is a former vineyard that hasn’t been used for grape production since the 1990s.
Land trust officials say they’ll develop a management plan for the property, designated as an “Important Bird Area” by the National Audubon Society,
Constellation Brands is one of the world’s largest wine and spirits companies. Its brands include Robert Mondavi wine, Svedka vodka and Corona beer.
