Rochester CPA elected organization president

Katherine Welc, CPA, has been elected president of the Rochester Chapter of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants.

She is an assurance manager at Mengel Metzger Barr & Co. LLP.

Welc joined the NYSSCPA in 2005. She has been a president-elect and vice president for its Rochester Chapter. She is a former chair of the chapter’s Young CPAs Committee, and has served on the Career Opportunities in the Accounting Profession Brockport Advisory Board and COAP Rochester Institute of Technology Advisory Board.

She is also a member of the Finance Committee for the Susan B. Anthony House. Welc earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in business administration and accounting from Saint Bonaventure University in 2003.

Other newly elected officers of the NYSSCPA Rochester Chapter are President-elect Cheryl Lynn Yawman, CPA, Cochran, Cochran & Yale LLC; Treasurer Michael D. Desmond, CPA, Heveron & Heveron CPAs PC; and Secretary Michael Thomas Burns, CPA, Harris Interactive Inc.
