Video profiles of homes for sale through the city of Rochester’s HOME Rochester program can be viewed on the city’s website at www.cityofrochester.gov/ynh.

The new video segments are taken from “Your New Home,” a television program produced by the city that showcases affordable Rochester homes acquired through foreclosure, completely rehabilitated and being sold for owner occupancy.

Website visitors can view a showcase of remodeled homes ready to be purchased and learn more about the HOME Rochester program, which, in its ninth year, has sold more than 500 homes. Each week, “Your New Home” host Shiera Coleman takes visitors on a video tour of the houses.

The HOME Rochester program is administered by the Greater Rochester Housing Partnership, a nonprofit lender dedicated to the creation and preservation of affordable housing in Rochester. The program enables individuals and families with low or moderate incomes the opportunity to become homeowners while helping to remove blighted properties in the city.

It uses local contractors and homebuyers are typically required to occupy their home for between 10 and 15 years. This residency requirement is designed to strengthen city neighborhoods by providing dedicated homeowners who feel invested in their community for the long term.

Each HOME Rochester home is lead-safe and comes with a one year warranty on major mechanical systems, requires a low down payment and homebuyers may be eligible for closing cost grants of up to $6,000 from the city and up to $5,000 from several mortgage providers through the FHLB of New York to reduce interest rates on conventional mortgages.
