New and used sports equipment is being collected in Webster to send to local troops serving overseas.
Anyone may drop off sports and recreation equipment, preferably in adults sizes, during a “Team Up for Troops” event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 23 in the parking lot of the Anthony Funeral Chapels Webster, 1031 West Ridge Road.
“We wanted to collect these items to send a little bit of home to local soldiers stationed in the Middle East,” said Mark Anthony, co-owner. “We’re looking forward to working with the community and hopefully bringing a smile to the faces of many of our deployed servicemen and women.”
Collected items will benefit the 401st Civil Affairs Battalion, local Army reservists and other deployed soldiers from the Rochester area. Participants can enjoy a hot dog, soft drinks and Bruster’s ice cream coupons in return for their donation. For more information, call (585) 872-6380.
The collection is being coordinated by the staff at Anthony Funeral & Cremation Chapels, in conjunction with Webster Rotary Club and the Kiwanis Club of Webster.
