The Shack has officially switched carriers.
Fort Worth, Texas-based electronics retailer RadioShack announced today it has entered into an agreement with Verizon Wireless to provide post- and-prepaid wireless products and services in its 4,300 stores nationwide. The deal means an end to the retail company’s contract offering T-Mobile wireless products and services.
RadioShack will continue offering T-Mobile products until Sept. 14, at which time the store will shift to a Verizon Wireless-only selling campaign.
The move could mean big sales increases for RadioShack. T-Mobile is the nation’s fourth largest cellphone service carrier, while Verizon Wireless is currently the largest. However, T-Mobile recently inked a deal with AT&T to a merger with the No. 2 service provider, which would create a network much larger than Verizon’s.
