A new survey of chief information officers nationwide found that more companies are expecting to expand their information technology departments in the fourth quarter than cut them.
The survey, conducted by Menlo Park, Calif.-based Robert Half Technology, found 12 percent of CIOs said they expected to expand their IT departments, while only 6 percent expect cutbacks, for a net 6 percent projected increase in hiring activity. Robert Half Technology, which conducts the survey quarterly, said the 6 percent projected increase was up two points from the previous quarter’s projections.
The survey found CIOs in the Mid-Atlantic region, which includes New York, plan the most IT hiring in the fourth quarter with a net 13 percent of executives anticipating adding IT staff.
