Rochester Area Community Foundation is awarding $5,000 prizes to four local nonprofits that garnered the most unique donors during Dec. 8’s ROC the Day, a 24-hour online day of giving.
The prizes in four specific categories were intended to encourage nonprofits in the nine-county greater Rochester region to get the word out about ROC the Day by encouraging their supporters to participate.
Winners are Geva Theatre Center in the arts and culture category; School of the Holy Childhood, community betterment and economic development; Genesee Valley Audubon Society, environment; and Lollypop Farm, Humane Society of Greater Rochester, in the human services category.
More than 700 nonprofit groups participated in ROC the Day, which was led by United Way, key sponsor ESL Federal Credit and many other community partners, including the Community Foundation. ROC the Day received $564,970 from 6,600 donors.
