State Sen. Kruger resigns, awaits court action

Former New York state Sen. Carl Kruger has pleaded guilty to four counts in an influence peddling case.

Kruger agreed not to appeal any prison sentence up to 11 years and three months. His sentencing was set for April 26.

Kruger resigned from the state senate earlier Tuesday. He had held his seat since 1994.

He pleaded guilty to two conspiracy counts and two counts citing Travel Act violations.

Kruger has been facing charges he accepted more than $1 million in bribes from a variety of business people and has been awaiting a federal trial in New York City.
