Doorley to be sworn-in as district attorney

The oath of office will be administered Friday to Sandra Doorley, Monroe County district attorney-elect and the first woman to lead the office.

The ceremony will be at 1 p.m. at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Rochester, 500 Genesee St.

Doorley is continuing the tradition started by her predecessor, District Attorney Mike Green, by having the special event held at the Boys and Girls Club. Two educational programs started by the district attorney’s office, Project Step-Up and Accelerated Reader, benefit the children who attend the club.

Lt. Gov. Robert Duffy, former District Attorney Howard Relin and Green will speak at the event, while members of the Drumcliffe School of Irish Dance, including Doorley’s two daughters, will provide the entertainment.
