A Rochester woman has been sentenced to five years’ probation for helping two men escape from the Monroe County Jail by slipping them saw blades hidden in a bible.
WHEC-TV reports that Lakesia Binion was sentenced Tuesday. She admitted last year that she hid the saw blades, a cell phone and a phone charger in a bible and delivered it to one of the inmates.
Authorities say Eddie Palmer and Joseph Mitchell used the blades to cut through a bar in their cell and escaped out a second-floor window at the jail on March 31, 2011. The men were captured after eight days on the run.
They both later pleaded guilty to escape charges.
Palmer is currently serving a three-year sentence. Mitchell will be sentenced in June.
