Lawyers support religious freedom

The annual St. Thomas More Mass will be at 12:10 p.m. Friday at Our Lady of Victory/St. Joseph Church on Pleasant Street.

The celebrant and homilist will be the Rev. Ronald Antinarrelli.

Sponsored by the Knights of Columbus Finger Lakes Chapter and the St. Thomas More Lawyers Guild, the Mass intention is the “Preservation of the Freedom of Religious Conscience,” and for deceased members.

The sponsor provides the opportunity for the community to join in communal prayer solidarity with the U.S. Catholic Bishop Conference which requested all faithful Catholics and other interested denominations join together in prayer until the July 4 annual freedom celebration (USCCB.org).

The bishops point out the recent mandate of HHS regulations will force the closure of Catholic hospitals, educational, adoption and charitable institutions throughout the country with a catastrophic loss to those in need at a time of exceptional economic difficulties.

In the fall, the guild and Knights of Columbus will present a legal educational form on “The Natural Law and Religious Liberty.”
