Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks, who is running for Congress, said she was honored to be endorsed Thursday by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and plans to support its priorities of job creation and economic growth.
“Our nation’s top employers agree, it’s time to show our country what it can learn from our county, where we have secured over 85,000 jobs by relying on property tax stability and fiscal restraint to promote a pro-growth environment,” said said in a release.
“As a member of Congress, I pledge to fight for the same sense of fiscal responsibility in Washington, so we can finally put America’s economy back on the path to prosperity.” Brooks was also one of three candidates endorsed this week by Maggie’s List, a federal political action committee dedicated to electing conservative women to federal office. It is named for Margaret Chase Smith, the first woman elected to both houses of Congress.
The group also endorsed Rep Nan Hayworth and Rep. Ann Marie Buerkle in their bids for re-election.
“Maggie Brooks is a strong candidate who will work to turn the country around and jumpstart the economy with her experience in bringing jobs to Monroe County,” according to Sandra B. Mortham, chairman of Maggie’s List and former Florida secretary of state.
