A program on “Patent Cooperation Treaty & Applications Conference” will be presented Monday at the Rubin Center for Education at the Monroe County Bar Association, 1 W. Main St.
The event will get under way with breakfast and registration at 8:30 a.m., followed by the morning session from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Speakers are T. David Reed, a patent agent, World Intellectual Property Organization consultant and instructor for Patent Resources Group; and Neil Slifkin, Harris Beach PLLC.
The morning session includes an overview of the PCT system, choosing a receiving office, choosing an international searching authority, claiming priority and furnishing priority documents including using the WIPO Digital Access Service, international search and written opinion of the ISA, international preliminary examination and procedural safeguards.
The afternoon session, from 1 to 5 p.m., will start with lunch and registration at 12:30 p.m. It will cover Internet resources, amending the international application and filing informal comments, recent developments, strategies for entering the national phase, U.S. national stage entry and bypass continuation practice, PCT related practice changes due to AIA, patent prosecution highway and PCT, and where to get help.
The program is sponsored by MCBA’s Business Law Section and the Rochester Intellectual Property Law Association. The cost is $125 per session for MCBA members; $110 for Business Law Section members and $200 for nonmembers. The cost for both is $235, MCBA members; $215 section members; $375, nonmembers.
