Committee: Portion of Brooks ad inaccurate

The Fair Election Practices Committee has ruled a portion of a third-party campaign ad on behalf of County Executive Maggie Brooks is inaccurate.

The Crossroads GPS ad states that U.S. Rep. Louise Slaughter, D-Fairport, Brooks’ opponent for a 25th District congressional seat, voted to send millions of dollars for snowmaking in Vermont. The committee found the charge to be untrue.

Other charges in the same ad were found to be accurate, according to the committee decision. Brooks, who cannot be associated with the production or placement of the ad, repudiated the portion found to be inaccurate.

  1. This wouldn’t happen to be the same ad in which a quote is misleadingly attributed to Louise Slaughter?
