A goal of $250,000 is set for the 26th annual Campaign for Justice, one of the most successful civil legal service fundraising campaigns in the country, organizers of the event said.
The Campaign for Justice is co-chaired by local attorneys A. Robert D. Bailey, vice president and general counsel at Bausch + Lomb; and Donald W. O’Brien Jr., partner at Woods Oviatt Gilman LLP.
The campaign’s success each year reflects the generosity of Rochester’s legal community and the partnership and collaboration of Rochester’s civil legal services providers, organizers said. Proceeds are distributed to three local legal services providers, Volunteer Legal Services Project (www.vlsprochester.org); Monroe County Legal Assistance Center, a division of Legal Assistance of Western NY (www.mclac.org); and the Legal Aid Society of Rochester (www.lasroc.org).
During the campaign, about 35 volunteers will call lawyers and local businesses to raise money for the fund drive. Online donations may be made by visiting the Volunteer Legal Services Project’s website.
VLSP receives a substantial part of its budget from the Campaign for Justice and provides the majority of the staff support for the campaign, which also receives staff assistance from the other beneficiaries.
