With several cases before her and a political campaign behind her, acting state Supreme Court Justice Gail Donofrio said she is thrilled and “tickled pink” to have won election to a full 14-year term on the bench.
“It hasn’t sunk in yet,” Justice Donofrio said. “But with a huge docket, I’m thrust right into the reality of a job I absolutely love. We worked hard and met a lot of wonderful people.”
Justice Donofrio, of Pittsford, was the top vote-getter with 273,460 votes in the eight counties of the Seventh Judicial District when the polls closed Tuesday night. East Rochester Town Justice J. Scott Odorisi was the next highest, with incumbent Justice David Michael Barry and Democrat Sean Gleason behind.
“All four candidates were certainly qualified,” said Justice Donofrio, who has been a judge for 14 years and is supervising judge of the Family Courts for the Seventh Judicial District.
