City of Rochester readies for upcoming storm

The City of Rochester’s Department of Environmental Services is prepared for the upcoming winter storm, forecasted by the National Weather Service to bring heavy, blowing and drifting snow early this evening and into Thursday morning, according to a release from Mayor Thomas S. Richards:

  • Plows are ready to be deployed to clear snow from 48 contracted residential street and alley routes, 57 contracted residential sidewalk routes, and 22 major street routes;
  • Crews are scheduled around-the-clock and more crews will be added as necessary;
  • The city has an ample amount of salt on hand in case roads ice over.

The city will continue to monitor this storm and updated information from the National Weather Service and make adjustments to manpower and resources as needed, the release said. Drivers are reminded to adhere to alternate side parking restrictions to allow for plows to clear snow from the streets. Those with concerns about roadway snow and ice control can call 311 from the city; from outside the City, call (585) 428-5990.
