City winter parking plan in effect

Mayor Thomas S. Richards is reminding drivers to use caution and to adhere to alternate side parking restrictions to allow for plows to continue to clear snow from the streets.

He thanked residents who did “a great job” getting their snowbound cars off city roads Thursday so plows could pass.

Due to the Christmas holiday, coupled with snow removal needs, refuse collection is delayed for up to two days. Recycling collection has been cancelled for the rest of the week. Residents scheduled for a Wednesday, Thursday or Friday garbage pick-up should expect to have their garbage collected on Friday or Saturday. People are urged to shovel around garbage cans, when safe to do so, and to not place them on top of snow banks or in the road.

Refuse and recycling collection will be on regular schedule for Monday. However, there will be no refuse and recycling collection on Tuesday due to the New Year’s holiday and the rest of the week will be delayed by one day.

Individuals with concerns about roadway snow and ice control can call 311 (from outside the city, call (585) 428-5990.
