City taps Miller for Parking Bureau

Laura Miller will serve as the new director of the city of Rochester’s Bureau of Parking, effective Jan. 22, Mayor Thomas S. Richards announced Wednesday.

She replaces Susan Olley, who was let go in July following an audit. Molly Clifford, director of Fire Administration, has been serving as interim director of the bureau while a search for a permanent replacement was conducted.

Miller has more than 20 years of experience in transportation and parking administration, serving most recently as the director of parking for the Athens Downtown Development Authority in Athens, Ga., for the past four years.

“Ms. Miller’s extensive experience in managing parking and transportation services gives me great confidence that she will do an outstanding job in meeting the city’s high expectations of leadership in the bureau as we strive to be fiscally responsible during these challenging economic times,” Richards said.

Miller, whose salary will be $100,770, said she is especially looking forward to immersing herself in the community, as well. She earned a bachelor’s in business administration from Niagara University and a master’s in business administration from State University at Buffalo in 1995. Prior to working in Athens, Ga., Miller served as a regional operations manager for Park ‘N Fly Inc. in Atlanta.
