DOT auctioning surplus property

The New York State Department of Transportation will auction nine parcels of land in Monroe, Ontario and Livingston counties next month.

The sale is part of the state’s Surplus Property Program aimed at returning properties no longer needed to the hands of local citizens who can better care for and develop the land.

Each parcel had been acquired by the state for highway improvements. What remains is no longer needed for transportation purposes and will be available for purchase by public auction.

The land auction will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, in the NYSDOT Regional Office, 1530 Jefferson Road, town of Henrietta. Registration will begin at 9:30 a.m.

The nine properties are listed at www.dot.ny.gov/r4surplus, along with maps, values, deposits and upset (starting bid) prices for each. Prospective bidders should research local municipal zoning requirements before placing bids. For more information, contact Steven Wanamaker at NYSDOT at (585) 272-3447.
